Introduction to the module
The manner in which people interact with computers is a growing area of study. Known formally as HCI - human computer interaction - the area of study links computing with other disciplines such as psychology. This module provides the fundamentals of the discipline of HCI by relating the theory to a range of application areas such as the Internet, interactive television, mobile communications and, of course, the computer.
Objectives
The objectives for this module are:
- to enable students to appreciate the importance of usability within information technology applications
- to explore and investigate definitions and theories of human computer interaction
- to implement, compare and contrast different practical approaches to usable systems evaluation
- to enable students to explore application of the theory to a range of different technologies and environments such as the Internet, interactive television, mobile devices and computers.
- to relate HCI to other aspects of Computing and IT
