Assessment criteria
Listed below are the criteria for this unit, the evidence that students need to present in order to meet the grades shown.
Pass
For a pass grade a learner should be able to:
- prepare web pages using suitable software
- identify and describe the different types of internet/intranet connections
- identify the main advantages of websites for users
- prepare a plan to promote a website
- demonstrate the ability to set up a website
- specify hardware and software requirements.
- understand the effect of the user’s web browser and screen size have upon the appearance of web pages
- understand the circumstances when technologies such as Active Server Pages, JavaScript, Java Applets, XML, etc are required
- understand how websites should be managed in terms of updating, development and organisation
- evaluate in detail the effect that the user's browser software has on the final appearance of web pages
- evaluate in detail the effect of download time in relation to large website files
- evaluate critically an existing website in terms of performance and fitness for purpose.
