notes
image file size: the unnecessarily big top 20!

Just for fun - please help me build the chart and/or update it. Tell me about the chunkiest e-mail stoppers you've had which really didn't need to be the size they were. I'll preserve senders' and contributors' identities.

Sender Item Size Comment
1
Ian H IT Training course handout 32MB Ridiculous Publisher file which I couldn't open anyway! Brought my college network to a grinding halt for twenty minutes
2
Brian P Tatu video of their first hit single 47MB He could have copied it onto a USB drive and brought it round in less time than it took, even on fast broadband (which he didn't know I had) to arrive
3
Geoff F Leaflet about ILT(!) designed as a DVD insert 4MB contained a 3" square image of 3.8MB which was perfectly acceptable at 8KB
4
Geoff F Presentation about ILT 2MB simple PowerPoint show but containing several massive images - later reduced to less than 400KB
5
Andrew E Presentation about using floppy disks 1MB very short Powerpoint show but containing massive screen prints - later reduced to 70KB
6
Geoff F Leaflet advertising a course on how to write bid documents 1MB 1 page A4 document with little illustration (yet to be investigated but probably contains bitmap logos bigger than the sheet)
7
Eddie G 4-page Word minutes of meeting document 500KB Two tiny logos account for 95% of file size!
8
Adrian P sample of his artist partner's work 64MB this shouldn't really be included as it wasn't actually sent but almost was. I got involved when Adrian mentioned his computer was acting strangely whenever he tried to work on this file. I'd said 'send it to me' but, living next door, popped round instead. Lucky that - I think I'd still be waiting for it!
