Three simple ideas

Amidst all the complexity of new software solutions there are some simple ideas which require very little skill but can make a big difference in day-to-day work. Here are three for you:

Web page in Word

The problem
Word’s ‘Save as web page’ produces great long lines of text that spread across the screen and looks nothing like the original document

The solution
1 Ctr+A

2 Table: convert text to table, use returns for rows

3 Save as a web page

Presentations that just start!

The problem
Your audience watches you fiddle around in PowerPoint
They can see the other 47 slides

The solution

1 Save or edit your file as normal

2 Save it again but as a PowerPoint Show

3 When presenting it open the .pps file

Borrowing internet text

The problem

Web pages either print with a load of stuff you don’t want or when copied into Word have annoying formatting and grid lines

The solution

1 copy the text

2 paste into Notepad

3 then paste into Word
