Create your web page
Go to Pageflakes.com. An 'empty' site been set up for you and the session leader or your tutor will advise you of the log-in details.
If you don't have access to a prepared web site then you can quickly set one up for yourself. Signing up requires no more than an e-mail address and there are helpful notes to get you started.
Add content

There is a large range of ready-made content available under +ADD FLAKE, including lots more in a further gallery (well worth scrolling through).

For text, use a Note for each area where you'd like to type something. Click on the icon and then Add to Page. Just click in the box and type.

Use the spanner icon to change the title and colours.
Add some links
For links you will need to find the Top Links flake. (Try page 9 of the gallery).

Click the +Pageflakes icon. A panel appears with 4 pre-set links. Edit these by clicking on the spanner icon, top right of the panel.

Enter your own links (or just leave them for now and change them later.)
Add a list of links to your notes
Pageflakes provides a nice way to make a list of the notes or materials that you have placed in your web log. So students or colleagues needn't ever actually see the web log itself, or be bothered about storing its address. This uses something called an RSS Feed. You don't need to know that RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Just click on +Add Feed. A selection of popular news feeds is provided. Something like BBC News may be appropriate or maybe some others. These you can just click and they're there on your page. Try one.
The best bit, though, is adding your own. Under the usefully titles ADD YOUR OWN, enter the address that you should have noted as your web log url. It'll be something like http://webtools-xxx.blogspot.com and add /atom.xml to that, leaving no spaces. Click on Get Feed.

Hopefully, it will recognise your web log entries. Click on Add to my page.

You should see your web log headings in a neat list on the site page. The default setting opens the links in the Blogger site in a new window. You may prefer, and your visitors probably will, to see them on your own site so use the spanner icon to edit the settings for this panel. Open Post in RSS Reader will enable the excellent pageflakes reader to handle your notes. Save the changes.
Page layout
You may now have several panels on your site page. these can be dragged around as you please. If you put them in one or two columns only then you'll be able to change the deafult 3-column layout. This can be accessed on the MyPage tab>Page layout.

Publish your page

Publish the page by clicking on the arrow next to its tab. A choice is then available - the usual selection will be to make the page public and a url will be displayed - that's your own web site address.
