Recently taken over by Google, and now temporarily under a limited beta Writely is an online writing and collaboration tool, that works even in real time. You can select who to share documents with, and so it could be set up to work with individuals or groups of students or staff. You can upload existing Word files, save files back to your computer etc.

Writeboards are shareable, web based text documents that let you save every edit, roll back any version and easily compare changes. Use Writeboard to write solo or collaborate with others, either within your college or wider, or to work with students on assignments.
